Overcoming Jealousy and Envy

Jealousy is something we all struggle with sometimes. Overcoming jealousy and envy requires awareness of our emotional behavior and our reactions to others perceived success. Jealous attitudes and dispositions create negative emotions. Shakespeare called it the green-eyed monster and it can overtake your mind and consume you before you know it.

Envy and jealousy are very close in meaning. The word “jealousy” means “zealous vigilance; becoming hostile toward a rival or one believed to enjoy an advantage.” The word envy means; “the desire to have for oneself something possessed by another; covetousness.”

Faith and prayer can help you overcome jealousy and envy. Have faith that God has special plans for you. Pray for understanding and acceptance. Learn to value what you have instead of what you don’t have.

jealousy

Jealousy and envy presents itself in just about every aspect of our lives. One might be jealous of another persons possessions or wealth. Or jealous of their beauty, health, achievements, job, marriage, social standing and the list goes on! [Read more...]

Jesus Is The Same Yesterday and Today and Forever

There is one thing that we can always find encouragement from and that is, Jesus does not change! He is our anchor and his word is our hope. Through him we will always find unconditional love and grace.

We can always count on him. He is our here and now and our future. He will always be with us and guide us. His love is always there unconditionally. His word never changes. He is our one constant in a ever changing world.

In our world time changes most things. Nothing stays the same. But time does not change Jesus Christ. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Jesus Is The Same

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” ~ Hebrews 13:8

Did You Think To Pray?

One of my favorite songs is “Did You Think To Pray?” Prayer was not meant to be ordinary. It is our connection to God. It is our hope, our strength, our refuge.

“Those persons who know the deep peace of God, the unfathomable peace that passeth all understanding, are always men and women of much prayer.”~ R. A. Torrey

Living A Balanced Life

A balanced life is what we all strive to achieve – spiritually, emotionally, and physically. God wants us to strive for balance in our personal lives. He wants us to “live in harmony with one another.”

Living a well-rounded life gives us the chance to make the most of every opportunity God sends our way. The only way to create a balanced life is to have Christ at the center of it and to do that we need to “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.”

One key to a balanced life if to focus on the present. Do not worry about yesterday or tomorrow. “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” ~Matthew 6:34. We should learn from the past, live in the present and plan for the future.

Balanced Life

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.” ~Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.

Bible Verses For Encouragement

Every now and then we all could use encouragement. There is no place better then the Bible to seek that encouragement. It is the living word of God and through the scriptures we find Gods word and his love for us. I hope the verses below help to lift your spirit and offer hope and encouragement in times of trouble and need.

The Impact of Attitude

The impact of attitude in our lives, our world, and our faith is huge! If affects everything and everyone around us. And yet we really don’t focus enough on our attitude every day like we should. What if we got up every morning and thanked God for being blessed with another day instead of dreading something we might not want to do that day.

Our attitude is a choice made by us. It can either be good and productive or bad and counter productive. Wrong attitudes contaminate our hearts and corrupt our faith!

Jesus Is The Boss Of This Thing

Beth Moore is one of my favorite speakers and I love reading her books! She is so good. She is an amazing teacher that draws people to God by using her personal experiences to teach God’s glory!

One of my favorite stories that she tells is about the old man in the airport with the long, matted hair. My favorite line out of the whole story is “Jesus is the boss of this thing!” Such a true and meaningful statement that we should never forget!

His Grace My Weaknesses – The Nature of Prayer

Wendy calls herself a thirty-something Jesus-girl who loves worship service, being debt-free, living simply and being home with her family! Her post on The Nature of Prayer is one of my favorite posts on her blog.

She writes that “Prayer also trains us to hear what God has to say to us. Listening to God requires more patience and more practice than talking to Him does. But when we listen to God, He provides guidance as we seek His will.”

Prayer is an important part of our relationship with God. Praying opens our hearts and mind to God and reminds us that he is the one we should lean on for strength, love and faith and guidance!
