His Grace My Weaknesses – The Nature of Prayer

Wendy calls herself a thirty-something Jesus-girl who loves worship service, being debt-free, living simply and being home with her family! Her post on The Nature of Prayer is one of my favorite posts on her blog.

She writes that “Prayer also trains us to hear what God has to say to us. Listening to God requires more patience and more practice than talking to Him does. But when we listen to God, He provides guidance as we seek His will.”

Prayer is an important part of our relationship with God. Praying opens our hearts and mind to God and reminds us that he is the one we should lean on for strength, love and faith and guidance!

Trust in the LORD

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. ~Proverbs 3:5-6. This is one of my favorite verses. It’s my daily reminder of who to put my trust in. The Bible says that if we trust in Him and put Him first in our lives that He will take care of our needs. We live our lives not knowing what each day will bring but knowing that the one in whom we place our trust does know and will watch over us.

Many find that it is easy to trust and believe when things are going well but the true test comes when things may not be going as we want them to and we don’t understand why. Putting our faith and trust in the LORD relieves our mind of worry and stress. It changes our attitudes and our actions. He provides wisdom, love, goodness, and righteousness and without Him we can do nothing!

Faith Through Love

We live by faith and we love by faith.  Our faith expresses itself through love. I believe faith without love holds no meaning. “Though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:2. Faith works through love. Give yourself to the love of God so your faith will be magnified. Faith and love are inseparable. They belong together. We must live our lives with love in our hearts so our faith shines positively through our actions.

Faith and love in our everyday lives is shown in many ways.  We can show kindness to one another so that we do not lose faith in humanity. We can rejoice with one another instead of being envious. We can show gratitude to our family and friends. We can seek forgiveness and offer forgiveness to those that need it.  We can pray for one another, offer hope and unconditional love. We can worship God through faith that is expressed by loving one another. [Read more...]

Sunday Weekly Favorites {6/26/11}

This week there was so many great posts that it was hard to narrow it down! I just love the inspiration and ideas I get from reading so many fabulous blogs. I hope you enjoy the ones below!

Lynn’s Kitchen Adventures – Lynn is offering a free Quick and Easy Breakfast ebook to all subscribers of her site. There are eighteen quick and easy breakfast recipes for you to try out. Visit her recipe site where she has so many great recipes listed that you’ll have a hard time deciding what to make first!

Raising Homemakers – At Raising Homemakers there is a great post on dispelling the myths about homemaking. This proves the value and importance of homemaking. My favorite quote is: “Ministering to your own little ones every day matters much. Just because they can’t give you recognition, a paycheck or testify up front on Sundays as to your faithfulness does not negate your home as a ministry.”

Knee-Deep in Munchkin Land – Jenn has a funny post titled: “Yes, I have everything under control. Why do you ask?” about a trip to the grocery store with four kids! You can’t help but smile when you read it. We’ve all been there!

Between Loads of Laundry – I just love the post “becoming” where Margi talks about spending time with God in the quietness of the morning while jogging. She says; “God doesn’t say a word, but He’s there and He keeps me company as my feet dance in the fresh summer morning air.” Love that!

Danise Delights – Read “Thankfulness Redefined” for a heartfelt reminder to be thankful for what we have. It is so humbling to me when I hear of people with such struggles in their lives who gain strength in their faith and it does not waiver during hardship!

My Blessed Life – A Place of Encouragement

Myra at My Blessed Life is a Southern girl just like me! She says that My Blessed Life is a place of encouragement and inspiration for your heart and home. I just love the name of her blog. She has a wonderful talent for decorating and one of my favorite projects she did was the apple green desk! I love the color but I never would have been brave enough to use it and it looks perfect!

She posts delicious looking recipes, decorating ideas, beautiful photographs and photography tips, frugal DIY projects and shares stories about her family and faith. Some of my favorite reads are her Sunday Meditations posts. She is a stay-at-home-mom who is married to her childhood sweetheart and they have a son named Ridley. [Read more...]

Top 5 Reasons I Love Being A Christian

I give thanks everyday that I was raised in a Christian home and have always known Christ. I went to a Christian high school and all my friends were Christians. I married a Christian man and we have raised our children in the Church. I am lucky and I realize not everyone was fortunate enough to have that opportunity. It’s hard for me to imagine not being raised that way.

My friends and I were talking about why we are blessed to be Christians and that got me to thinking about the reasons I love being a follower of Christ. So I decided to make a list of the top five reasons I love being a Christian.

1. Being a Christian is a new beginning on life. Once you become a Christian all your sins are washed away and you start a new fresh life. [Read more...]

Don’t Lose Heart – Seek God’s Glory

It’s so easy to get caught up in the drama of the moment that sometimes we may forget to seek the glory of God to help us through challenging times. Without the glory of God we lose heart and feel defeat and insecurity. God lovingly reveals his glory to all who seek it diligently. So why do we not seek it often?

“Didn’t I tell you that if you believed
you would see glory of God?” ~ John 11:40

God is love and it’s his love that brings us hope. We can heartily seek his glory and righteousness in prayer and fellowship. God challenges us to seek Him and enter into a close relationship with Him! “Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.” ~ Isaiah 55:6. It is through him that we can find relief and divine intervention for what troubles us. It is through him that we can find happiness and celebration in all things good. In seeking God you will discover the love of God and his will. The Bible is your guide to God’s glory. It is through the Bible that you will find the answers.

There is a difference between claiming God and seeking him. We should all follow God’s direction and seek the Kingdom of God above all else. Live for God’s glory.  We need to allow him to lead our steps on a straight path to HIS glory. Praise him in all things and allow his grace and mercy to provide strength and encouragement.

Don’t lose heart. Take a journey instead to seek God”s glory.

Moms In Touch International

Note: Guest post submission by Maria Rainier.

As a Christian mom, it can be tough to send your children to public schools where you’re worried that they’ll be influenced by forces outside of your control. Religious intolerance can be a significant concern, especially where intelligent design is not included in scientific curricula. Public schools are also full of temptations for your children, but you’re not there to point them out or to give a cautionary word when it’s needed. You simply have to trust that guidance will be provided, but that’s not where your role in your children’s education ends. You have the opportunity to join a local group of moms like you that’s focused specifically on praying for your children, your school, and its administrators and teachers: Moms In Touch. Starting Your Own Women’s Bible Study Group

Have you ever thought about starting your own bible study group? This is a great way to fellowship with other Christian women. It is a wonderful opportunity for women who enjoy studying the bible to encourage one another and to learn and understand the scriptures.

A weekly or even monthly bible study helps to hold yourself and other members accountable for reading the bible consistently. It allows you to interact with other Christian women who may be experiencing the same daily trials you are. [Read more...]

Living a Life of Faith

Living a life of faith to God is a blessing considering the sacrifices he made for our sins. The word of God allows us to know God personally and gives us the outline on how to live our lives to be acceptable to God.  What does the bible teach us? Among other things it teaches us that God planned for us, created us, upholds and controls the universe through Providence.

Mankind holds a special place with God. After all we were created in his image.  We are his physical representative and the ambassador for his work.  But do we do a good job? God gave us free will so that we can decide to follow. We are not forced to believe but are left to choose to believe.  And I do believe.  I believe in the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.
